Line marking a freight site in Unanderra
Murrell Freight Lines is in our own suburb, on Berkeley Road. Stage 2 of their site is a place where forklifts and people share the space. The marking has to be clear at a glance.
What went down
- 126 metres of green walkway, a metre wide, with edge lines.
- Five white pedestrian crossings, from 4 to 12 metres wide.
- 218 metres of yellow lane lines and 18 metres of black.
- 114 square metres of red chevrons.
- 28 metres of black walkway.
- Watch Out For Forklift stencils at five spots.
It's just paint on the ground, right?
Most of the job is the prep. Painting it in is the quick part.
Walkways have to run straight and line up with the gates. Arrows have to sit centred in the space or they look wrong.
Faded lines make a good site look like a backyard job. Then, once vehicles and people are sharing the space, it stops being about looks.
